Check the water temp sensor might be in limp mode does that if you can't read temp Gage will read still works but faulty signal sometimes coolant temp sensor can cause that lean idle it's usually sporadic throttle

I still remember the first time my grandpa let me drive sitting on his lap. I was 6 and I was the last one to drive his 68 3/4 ton Chevy, before he traded it in on his brand new Ford Ranger in 86. You’re definitely making awesome memories with your son. Driving Rat Rod Bob’s car is an awesome memory to have and to have shared with all of us.
